As someone who has walked this city from one end to the other, many times over - who depends on his two feet for transportation, I fully support this movement. I operate a studio gallery in Beasely and live in nearby Corktown. I take a new route to work, by foot, daily. I know the challenges and risks a pedestrian must endure just to navigate our streets safely, especially downtown. Yes, we certainly do need a more walkable safe environment!

On a personal note since moving into the St.Clair neighbourhood, I have gotten to know my neighbours while on my many walks to enjoy Gage Park. I also enjoy walking the many pathways and trails along the escarpment along with my family, friends, and clients always meeting people along the way. In fact Hamilton ranks among the tops in the country for its urban running routes, something we should both be proud of and more importantly take advantage of.
So lets look to highlight Hamilton's beautiful natural and urban landscapes by connecting communities through a Walkable Hamilton as outlined by this campaign.
To know your community is to grow your community and what better way to discover this city than by foot.

I would also like to see the same type of signal at various places on Cannon Street East. I use Cannon daily on my way out of the city. The Crossing Guards take their life into their own hands trying to get traffic stopped for children to cross the street! It's dangerous.
